Retrofit & Plant Upgrade
Case Studies:
SPP/Suncor , Oil, Australia
Two 3.2m diameter & one 1.8m venturi stainless
steelseparator vessels were retrofitted succesfully to
TurboScrubber® mode in 2000. The units remove sub
micron particulate, absorb SO2 & organic odours highly
efficiently from combustor off gas in to 5% w/w slurries.
Hercules BD, Chemicals, U .K.
The existing plant consisted of one plate scrubber & a
fixed pack tower in series for the absorption of HCl,HCHO
and amines into alkaline or acidic solutions. The two
towers & system were upgraded to TurboScrubber® in
2000 to increase efficiency to 99.9%, achieve new
emission targets & eliminate amine plumes.
Engelhard, Metal Recovery, U.K.
Metal scrap incineration generates ultra fine particulate
& acid. This plant, upgraded in 1997, incorporates a
TurboScrubber in series with an existing venturi scrubber
to remove 0.2 to 0.6_m size particulate upto 99%, absorb
HCl to 99.99% & cool the gas for plume suppression.
Bartz, Metal Castings, Germany
This originally low efficiency packed tower using 3m of
packing was retrofitted to a low bed height
TurboScrubber® in 1999. Absorption of Methyl Methanoate
(CH3OOCH) was so enhanced that emissions reduced by
over 50% using the same vessel, pipework & fan.
